International Students

Homestay Options

New Zealand is recognised as a country of great natural beauty which is known for its outdoor pursuits and its relaxed healthy lifestyle. Westlake Girls High School is located on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city where stunning beaches sit alongside cafes, restaurants and excellent shopping.

During their time here, our international students usually live with a host family which allows them to fully experience our Kiwi lifestyle within a caring and supportive environment. Our international department can arrange a homestay with a New Zealand family who is carefully selected and visited regularly to ensure they meet the high standards required. Student safety and welfare is a priority and all our host families are also police checked.

On acceptance into our international programme all students will receive a detailed handbook to help them settle into their new surroundings.

Applying to be a Host Family

Our host families play a vital role in the success of our international programme, helping our students to feel at home during their stay and to make the most of their time in New Zealand. Hosting an international student is a great way to learn about another culture and we would love to hear from families willing to open up their home to our students.

In 2024, Host families will receive $350 per week for each international student (or $370 per week if the student is under 14 years.)

If you wish to apply to be a host family, please read our Homestay Guidelines to ensure you are able to meet the necessary requirements. Applications can then be made using the Homestay Application Form. A Police Vetting Form must also be completed for every adult (aged 18 and over) who lives in your home. Please see all forms below.
