Homestay Coordinator – International Department

Permanent, 40 hours per week | Start date: Immediate

We’re looking for a proactive, people-focused Homestay Coordinator to join our dynamic International Team at Westlake Girls High School. This is a key role that supports the well-being of our international students by connecting them with welcoming homestay families and providing ongoing care and oversight throughout their time with us.

You’ll be at the heart of our international programme — building strong relationships with students, homestay families, caregivers, agents, and staff, and ensuring every placement runs smoothly. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in young people from diverse backgrounds are essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating homestay placements and managing ongoing communication with families and students
  • Ensuring compliance with the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 and its Guidelines
  • Organising student events, transport, and pastoral support
  • Liaising with caregivers and agents, managing payments, and processing police vetting
  • Supporting the end-of-year international programme
  • Being available for occasional after-hours calls or urgent transport/homestay changes.

You’ll bring:

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong time management and administrative accuracy
  • Integrity, initiative, and a warm, professional presence
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to support students from diverse backgrounds
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing needs
  • A clean full NZ driver’s licence and ability to undergo police vetting
  • Familiarity with the Code of Practice (advantageous but not essential).

This is a rewarding role in a supportive school environment — ideal for someone who enjoys variety and meaningful, people-centred work.
