The New Zealand Secondary Schools Calendar caters to students competing in Aerobics, Artistic Gymnastics, Rhythmic Gymnastics, Tumbling and Trampolining.
Westlake Girls has a proud history in rhythmic gymnastics and this year is no exception. Year 10 student Athena Li won the New Zealand Junior International Rhythmic Gymnastics title, and the New Zealand Secondary Schools and Auckland Secondary Schools title then represented New Zealand at the Junior World Championships in Romania in July 2023 and Australian Championship prior to it. Other gymnasts to shine at school include year 11 student Mary Malkova, the former New Zealand Junior International Rhythmic Gymnastics Champion, who won the Auckland Secondary Schools Senior Internationals Rhythmic Gymnast’s title at Pulman Arena in June. Mary was also selected to represent New Zealand at the Australian Nationals and the Singapore Open.
Competitions run throughout the year and all registrations for events are taken online.
