Hockey is a growing sport in New Zealand, and one of the top sports at Westlake Girls. Westlake Girls is the 2023 Auckland Secondary Schools Champion and bronze medalist at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Federation Cup Championship. There are currently 5 teams competing in the North Harbour and Auckland competitions, with room as interest continues to grow. All the teams are competitive, with 3 x Senior & 2 x Junior sides but it can fluctuate based on student needs. The hockey competitions begin at the start of Term 2.
2024 TRIALS
Monday 19 February – Premier Trial 1 – 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Tuesday 20 February – Junior (Y9/10) Trial 1 -3:30pm – 5:30pm
Wednesday 21 February – Premier Trial 2 (Call Back) – 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Monday 4 March – Junior Trial 2 – 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Tuesday 5 March – Junior Trial 3 (Call Back) – 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Thursday 7 March – Premier Trial 3 – 3:30pm – 5:30pm
All Hockey trials are held at school and overseen by the Sport Manager for Hockey, Ian Bright, alongside the Premier Coach & multiple other coaches. Students need to register for Hockey on the link below before 16 February. They will then receive an email with the necessary trial details, and which they should attend. Students with Summer Sport clashes must notify Ian Bright as soon as possible via email ibright@westlakegirls.school.nz
Please arrive 15 mins prior to your trial starting, sign in to ensure your attendance is registered and to warm up. After the trial, you will be notified about what will happen to your group next. Once all trials are finalised the team lists will then be posted on the noticeboard outside the Sports Department at the end of Term 1.

2nd XI – $300.00
3rd XI – $225.00
Junior A – $300.00
Junior B – $225.00
Dresses & Socks can be purchased from the Sports Department in late Term 1 after payments are made at Accounts:
