Netball

2026 NETBALL

Netball is the biggest sport at Westlake Girls with 49 teams and the largest programme on the North Shore. All WGHS teams compete in the North Harbour or Auckland competitions each season and last year the school finished on a successful note with the Year 9 team winning the Harbour competition and the Premier team beating Wellington’s best at the national champs to become the 3rd top school in New Zealand.

Played in Term 2 and 3, the netball season begins with Trials in March and then 4 weeks of grading games in May before concluding at the end of August.  All the WGHS teams play at Harbour except for the Premier team who competes in the competitive Auckland Competition.  In 2025, Westlake Girls enjoyed 17 x Year 9 teams who played on Mondays after school between 4pm – 8pm at Harbour Netball and 31 x Year 10-13 teams play on Saturday mornings. We are extremely fortunate to have many supportive parents who function as team managers and numerous students who ably assist with student coaching. Trial time is a very hectic process so please ensure you register for your trial and then the person in charge will email you regarding your trial number and day.
