Westlake Girls has a number of very talented swimmers who compete on the regional and national platforms including Savannah-Eve Martin, the New Zealand Secondary Schools senior 50m Freestyle Champion and the Westlake Girls 4 x 50m Freestyle relay team who finished 2nd at the championships.

All competitive swimmers must enter the School Swimming Sports to compete for the school at the following events.
The School Swimming Sports Day is on Thursday 19 February 2026 and is open to all students, but it is not compulsory. To register for it, please go to CLIPBOARD / 2026 WESTLAKE GIRLS SCHOOL EVENTS / SWIMMING SPORTS DAY for all the information. At this event the school’s Junior, Intermediate and Senior Swimming Champions will be selected plus the Westlake Girls Swimming Team.

The School Swimming Sports Day is an optional event open to all students who can swim. While attendance is not compulsory, it is recommended as it provides a fantastic opportunity support your HOUSE and fellow students hoping to qualify for regional or national championships. There are separate CHAMPIONSHIP and HOUSE competitions that allow everyone to earn1 point per event for their House.
The Swimming Sports is held at the AUT Millennium Aquatic Centre, 17 Antares Place, Mairangi Bay and begins at 9.15am with sign in then will end at 2pm with sign out. Transport is provided for students but if they live closer to the venue than school, then they can make their own way to the pool If you require transport, it is especially important to indicate that below, so you receive all the notifications. The transports will leave school at 8.30am promptly and students are to meet outside the Payments Office near the Admin block no later than 8.15am to meet the buses. A teacher will be there to direct students. The programme starts at 10am with a Zumba warm up and concludes at 2pm after the finals.
All students must wear a swimsuit in the pool, and their house T-shirt and PE shorts to the venue. Students should also bring a towel, warm clothing, lunch, snacks, a water bottle as there will be no food accessible at the venue. Students do not have to wear school uniform, just P.E uniform and something warm. And they will not be permitted to leave the venue unless they are permitted by staff.
CHAMPIONSHIP EVENTS:
Students who are strong swimmers and/or are aiming to represent the school at the North Harbour Zone and Auckland Secondary School Swimming Championships are required to enter the CHAMPIONSHIP RACES to qualify for the regionals. This category will also crown the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Swimming Champions for 2026. Please make your selections below.
HOUSE OR FUN Events:
Students in the non-championship events are required to complete the registration form but do not have to complete the “EVENTS” section. Students participating in House events will be notified of their events on the Day and asked to come to the starting blocks. These events include fun relays, Manu, and individual swimming disciplines which run throughout the day. You do not need to be a strong swimmer but must be confident in the water and be able to swim and tread water to enter these events. Please make your selections below.
