Westlake Girls has a strong history in tennis, having won the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship for 5 consecutive years.  The sport is played in Term 1 for seniors and Term 4 for the Juniors.

There are two Senior competitions in Term 1: Harbour League on Mondays after school and the Auckland Premier League on Wednesday’s afterschool. Occasionally, teams will play in the Auckland Senior Competition on Saturday mornings.

Teams travel to various venues each week as well as host teams at the impressive Westlake Girls covered courts. These teams are competitive and suited to confident tennis players.

LEARN TO PLAY TENNIS – TERM 1 and TERM 4

Students eager to learn to play tennis are coached by Elite Tennis coaches and the fee is usually split between the number of students who attend with a minimum fee of $10 per hour. Learn to Play is held on Wednesday mornings at 8.00am. Register on CLIPBOARD if you are interested.

2025 COMPETITIONS:

Premier : (Very Competitive) Auckland Competition on Wednesdays after School from 4.15pm – 6pm. Begins early 4 February 2025.
A3 & Senior B : (Inter-club player) Auckland Competition on a Saturday mornings, first game starts at 8.15am – starts 15 February.
North Harbour Competition: Monday’s after School from 4 – 5.30pm – begins Monday 10 February.
Players can also enter the Auckland Champion of Champions Competition. This is for our top Senior, Intermediate and Junior Players.

Term 4 – Junior Harbour Competition begins on Monday 20 October 2025 and trials will be held on Wednesday 10 September on the Covered Courts.

2025 TRIALS

Trial 1 – Premier & Senior – Late January – 3.30pm – WGHS – TBC
Trial 2 – Harbour Girls A, Girls B, Girls C – Late January – 3.30pm – WGHS – TBC
Auckland Championships – 5 -7 March 2025 – Scarbro Tennis Centre – Entries close 20 Feb.

Term 4 – Junior Harbour Competition begins on Monday 20 October 2025 and trials will be held on Wednesday 10 September on the Covered Courts.

LEARN TO PLAY Tennis begins Early February – 8.15am and restarts in Term 3 on Wednesday 10 September at 8am on the Covered Courts.

FEES:

Season Fee – $50 (Tournament fees not included)
Learn to Play Tennis – Numbers dependent – TBC
Tennis Dress – $85

UNIFORM:

Students need to purchase a tennis dress from the Sports Department and a black sports pullover from the Uniform Shop.

Cost: Dress – $85.00.  Black Pullover – $65.00
