As one of the targeted sports at Westlake Girls, the school is committed to supporting Touch Rugby’s performance pathway to develop talented and resilient players for the future. Westlake Girls has a strong history of Touch Rugby, with 3 podium finishes at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Touch Rugby Championships over the years. Westlake Girls best finish was silver in 2020.
The Senior touch rugby season is played in Term 1 with the Junior competition featuring in Term 4. Unlike other senior summer sports that end after Summer Tournament Week in March, the New Zealand Secondary Schools Touch Rugby Championship is held in December so the Premiers Trial and Train for the event during Term 4 also.

PREMIER Term 4:
Premier NZSS Team information – Please note that relevant information will become available to those who are successful in making the premier team.
Late September – Premier pre-season training starts in late September, and the trial will be held in mid-October – Dates TBC
JUNIOR TOUCH: (Do not register here – go to Term 4 Junior Sports and contact Jo Mersh directly)

Tuesdays starting late October – Weekly Touch Junior zones season – 20 October 2026
AKSS Junior Touch Championship- Thursday 24 November at Panmure

FEES:
Premier team – $50 (excludes NZSS)
Senior/social – $40
Juniors – $40
Please note that for tournaments, there are extra charges, and this will be loaded onto student accounts.
UNIFORM:
Students will be issued a playing singlet, and all students need to wear black spanx or shorts. The premier team will also be issued black playing shorts.
