2019 3 x 3 National Basketball Championship

– Westlake Girls win 3 National Titles in Mt Maunganui

Congratulations to the Westlake Girls 3 x 3 Basketball Teams who represented the school at the National Championships at Mt Maunganui during Summer Tournament week.  Of the four teams that participated in the championship, three of the Westlake Girsl Teams were crowned National Champions.

2019 NZSS 3 x 3 Basketball Senior Girls Open Grade Champions
National Champions after beating Tauranga Girls College in an intense overtime final.

2019 NZSS 3 x 3 Basketball Junior Girls Elite Grade Champions
The Westlake Junior Elite team beat Tai Wananga in the Final and to win the Junior Elite Grade National Title.

2019 NZSS 3 x 3 Basketball Junior Girls Open Grade Champions
The Westlake Junior Open team beat Mt Maunganui College to win the Junior Open Grade National Title.  The team united with agile movement and skilful ball skills to play thrilling basketball.

2019 NZSS 3 x 3 Basketball Senior Girls Elite Grade – 3rd
In the 3rd/4th Playoff, Westlake Girls successfully beat St Mary’s College from Auckland who they had lost to in the round robin games, to finish in 3rd place in the Senior Elite Grade.

Basketball at Westlake

Basketball is a popular sport at Westlake Girls High School with the majority of teams competing in the local North Harbour competition. Basketball operates in Term 2 and 3 with teams that include Premier, Junior Premier, Open, U19, U17 and U15s.

The majority of teams will play at North Shore Event Centre, with the occasional game elsewhere. The Senior Premier team has home and away games each week.
