2026 HOCKEY

REGISTRATIONS CLOSE THURSDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2026

Hockey is a strong sport at Westlake Girls and as one of the targeted codes, Westlake Girls works hard to feature highly on the regional and national platforms. In 2025 the 1st X1 won the Auckland Premier Title and finished 5th at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Federation Cup Championship.

There are currently 5 teams competing in the North Harbour and Auckland competitions.  All the teams are competitive, with three senior teams and two junior sides. Our Premier coach, Geoff McNaughton, continues into his second year as Westlake’s Premier coach whilst coach Shaun Mills continues to build Westlake’s 2nd XI Hockey team.

2026 TRIALS

• Monday 16 February – Premier Trials – Year 11 + only from 3.30pm -5.30pm
• Tuesday 17th February – Junior Trials – Year 9 &10 only from 3.30-5.30pm
• Wednesday 18th February – Premier Call Backs #1 & Juniors selected from Junior Trials from 3.30-5.30pm
• Monday 2nd March 3rd X1 Trials from 3.30-5.30pm
• Tuesday 3rd March Junior Call backs #1
• Wednesday 4th March Premier Call Backs #2
• Thursday 5th March Junior Call Backs # 2 (if required)

All Hockey trials are held at school and overseen by the Sport Manager for Hockey, Jo Mersh alongside the Premier Coach & other team coaches. Students will need to register for Hockey on the link below before 13 February. They will then receive an email with the necessary trial details, and which they should attend. Students with Summer Sport clashes must notify Jo Mersh as soon as possible via email [email protected]

Please arrive 15 mins prior to your trial starting, sign in to ensure your attendance is registered and to warm up. After the trial, you will be notified about what will happen to your group next.  Once all trials are finalised the team lists will then be posted on the noticeboard outside the Sports Department at the end of Term 1.

FEES:

• 1st XI – $450.00
• 2nd XI – $300.00
• 3rd XI – $225.00
• Junior A – $225.00
• Junior B – $225.00

Dresses & Socks can be purchased from the Sports Department in late Term 1 after payments are made at Accounts:

• Dress – $85
• Socks – $15
