2026 RUGBY
Winners of the 2024 Harbour Secondary Schools Championship, Rugby is a targeted sport at Westlake Girls. It is committed to developing the sport to a high standard. The school has 2 teams: Premier and 1 x Junior teams.
The Premier Team is made up of Year 10-13 students and competes strongly to represent the North Shore in the Blues qualifier for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championship held in September. The team plays in a 12 a side competition on Mondays after school but needs to quickly adjust to compete in the 15 a side qualifier in August.
The Junior team compete in the junior Harbour competition aimed at developing the young students into strong players on Tuesdays after school.
2026 TRIALS
The trials for these teams will be held during the mandatory pre-season training sessions which begin in the last week of March and typically run through the April school holidays led by the head coach.
Session 1: Friday 20 March – 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Session 2: Friday 27 March – 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Session 3: Friday 3 April – 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Session 4: Friday 10 April – 3.30pm – 5.30pm
FEES:
Premier – $150
Juniors – $50
*Please note that for tournaments, there are extra charges)
UNIFORM:
Students will be issued a rugby jersey, playing shorts as well as socks. Each player needs to wear appropriate playing boots and have their own mouthguard. No mouthguard, no rugby.
