Why Westlake

Westlake Girls has a reputation for high-quality teaching and a well-developed culture of excellence. Our academic results consistently track above national outcomes, both nationally and against comparative schools. We pride ourselves on providing a dynamic and stimulating learning environment that engages our students and inspires them to personal growth, both academically and through our extensive co-curricular programme. Students are encouraged to become creative and independent learners which prepares them for tertiary study and future careers.

We celebrate out ethnic and cultural diversity, and value the different perspectives introduced by students from a wide range of nationalities and backgrounds.

Westlake Girls encourages every student to participate fully in the co-curricular life of the school. We have 75 clubs and activities available for students and we provide a safe learning environment for our students to give things a go – like robotics, debating, hard materials technology or sustainability projects. The ­five-House system provides numerous leadership opportunities across academic, cultural, sporting and service fi­elds. The prestigious Duke of Edinburgh programme also allows students to develop leadership skills and ful­l the programme’s service requirements.

As a leading sports school we offer more than 40 sports ranging from Athletics to Windsurfing, with international standard hockey turfs and football ­fields. Our emerging talent programme allows us to support and develop top athletes, and many of our students achieve national and international recognition.

Our vibrant Music Department has many and varied co-curricular ensemble groups that contribute to its longstanding reputation for excellence. Working in conjunction with Westlake Boys High School, we have dominated regional and national music competitions for many years, as well as achieving great success in international competitions.
