Students win New Zealand Transport Agency Award

In June, the New Zealand Transport Agency ran a nation-wide competition open to all school students called “#future transport17”. Students had to prepare an item looking at transport issues and come up with possible solutions. Four Westlake girls students, Regina Lee (Year 13), Katherine Stevenson (Year 13), Dheyril Nicolas (Year 12) and Raina Song (Year 12) made and entered an interactive game called STOP.  This games encourages students to stop using their technology and look up when crossing roads. The game won first prize in the Year 11-13 Best Game Category. For their achievement, the students won $2000 worth of prizes for themselves and their supervising teacher and $2000 worth of prizes for the school.  This link is a short 2 minute video which explains their game:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJSxcjX6_Eg
