Auckland is a vibrant city that is based around two large harbours in the north of New Zealand’s North Island. For this reason, it is known as the City of Sails! Our iconic Sky Tower has views of Viaduct Harbour, which is full of boats and lined with eateries. Auckland Domain is the city’s oldest park. It is based around an extinct volcano and home to beautiful gardens. Near Downtown, Mission Bay Beach has a seaside promenade.

The North Shore, where Westlake Girls High School is located, is a beautiful part of Auckland, with beaches, parks, forests and walkways. There are numerous shopping and eating options and the climate is temperate all year round. Summer is from December to March with the hottest day of the year being February 6, with an average high of 74°F (24°C) and low of 63°F (17°C).

The cool season lasts for 3.5 months, from May 30 to September 15, with an average daily high temperature below 60°F. The coldest day of the year is July 14, with an average low of 47°F (8°C) and high of 57°F (14°C).
