Enrolling at Westlake

Domestic Enrolments

Applications from out-of-zone students closed on Wednesday 7 September. In-zone applications are still being accepted, using the link below.

Study in 2023

We are currently accepting applications for enrolment for study in 2023 IN-ZONE only. Please note you will need to have some documentation ready to attach in order to complete the application process. You will be sent an email confirming we have received your enrolment application.

Ballot

We will determine if a ballot is needed to select students for any remaining places at WGHS in 2023. If required, the ballot will be held on Wednesday 14 September and you will be informed of the outcome of the ballot by Friday 16 September.

Entrance Testing and Orientation

All students who have completed the enrolment process and will be attending WGHS at Year 9 in 2023 will be invited to attend our Orientation and Testing Day on Friday 11 November 2022.

In-zone

Students who live in the Westlake Girls High School zone (see map link below) may enrol at the school as of right, provided:

  • They are entitled to a state education
  • They live in-zone as their main residence, with a parent or legal guardian

Applicants must first complete the Online Enrolment Form and submit the requested documentation. Once the school is satisfied that the enrolment criteria have been met, the student and parent/caregiver will be invited by email to book an Enrolment Interview with senior staff.

You will receive the email from the school within 7 days after you have submitted your Online Enrolment Form.

Please note that “living in the school zone” means a student has her main residence in the school zone. The school will not accept the temporary transference of guardianship to someone living in-zone as evidence that a student is living in zone.

View our map to see the Westlake In Zone area

We will only accept the following evidence of residence in-zone:

If you are renting

  • A copy of a lease agreement for a rental property whereby the agreement is valid for 12 months from February 2023 PLUS
  • A recent utility bill (power, contents insurance, landline/broadband)

If you own your home

  • A recent rates notice: PLUS
  • A recent utility bill (power, contents insurance, landline/broadband)

Out-of-zone

If you are unsure whether you live in-zone or out-of-zone, please check the zoning map.

Out-of-zone priority order

Each year the Board of Trustees determines the number of places likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the school zone. Once in-zone enrolment numbers are confirmed, out-of-zone applications are prioritised and drawn by ballot according to the priority list.

  • First Priority This priority is not applicable as the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education
  • Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students
  • Third Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students
  • Fourth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school
  • Fifth Priority will be given to applicants who are children of Board employees and Board members
  • Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants
