Junior Volleyball wins North Island title

The Westlake Girls Junior A Volleyball team has had an outstanding season in 2019. After winning the Auckland Junior Volleyball Championship, Auckland and North Harbour Super League Volleyball Championships earlier in the season, they have just won the Gold medal in the North Island Secondary Schools Junior Volleyball Championships. This tournament was held in Mt Maunganui in late November and the Westlake team beat Mt Maunganui College and Bethlehem College in their pool games, then beat Carmel College in the quarter-finals and Rangitoto College in the semi-final. In the final, they had to play Trident High School and beat them in two sets (25 – 20, 25 – 23). The Westlake team was also acknowledged for their skills and abilities with 4 players being selected for the Tournament team (Mackenzie Chatfield, Sarah Moors, Delphi Houlding and Holly Isherwood). Mackenzie Chatfield was also named as the Most Valuable Player of the entire Tournament.
