2022 WGHS Snowsports
Snowboarding is on a high at Westlake Girls after winning 12 medals (7 golds) at the Auckland Secondary Schools Championship for the first time in Westlake Girls Snowsports history. Harriet Gowing was instrumental in the current champions success winning 5 golds and the Girls competition.
Each year the Ski and Snowboard teams compete in the Auckland and North Island Secondary Schools Championships and last year Snowsports program included a weeklong camp at Cardrona Ski Field near Wanaka during the July school holidays. Students trained with some of the country’s top coaches each morning refining their technique and race pace before freestyling in the afternoons. The magnificent blue bird days were a majestic backdrop as the students readied themselves perfectly for the North Island Secondary Schools Championships.
