Snowsport

Westlake Girls High School offers the opportunity for competitive skiers and snowboarders to represent the school at the Auckland and North Island Championships.

Snow sports is largely reliant on and driven by parents.  It is offered to all ages and ability levels in skiing, freestyle skiing and snowboarding. If you are interested in an event, please discuss it with us in the Sports Department.

Term 2 High Flyer Schools Snow Sports Programme

If you are keen to learn how to ski or snowboard, or you want to improve your skills, this eight week programme at Snow Planet is for you. Held from 8 May to 26 June the High Flyer programme groups students according to ability. To find out more, check out the flyer.

265 Ski Race Programme

Snow Planet holds a series of race programmes from entry-level to advanced over Term 2. The 10-week programme aims to help skiers become competitive racers through technical skill development. More information here

Bronze medal in ski champs

Sian Allan (pictured) competed in the Girant Slalom event at the North Island Secondary School Ski Champs in 2018. Postponements of the event int he first two days due to poor weather meant that a longer than usual course of 23 was set the 215 competitors in the senior men's and women's division.

Sian had a fantastic race in challenging conditions to place third out of the 106 senior women competing.
