The combined Westlake Girls – Westlake Boys Adventure Racing Team competed at the Nationals qualifying event in Rotorua in mid-June. In the 6 hour Adventure Racing Hillary Challenge, the team came 2nd. This allows them to compete at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Adventuring Racing Champs in May 2018. The Westlake Girls students in the team are: Mica Erdmann (Year13), Iliarne Watson (Year 12), Farin Dickinson (Year 12) and Jessica Lane (Year 11).
