Ex-student awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to the USA

In late June, 60 New Zealanders were awarded Fulbright Scholarships at a ceremony at Parliament, including ex-Westlake Girls student Paige Thomas (Year 13 in 2010). Fulbright New Zealand provides these scholarships for promising graduate students to complete a post-graduate degree at an American University in areas targeted to support growth and innovation in New Zealand. Paige will use her Fulbright Scholarship (worth US$31,000 a year) to research the impact of skill training on motor neurone disease at Columbia University in New York as part of her work towards a PhD (Doctorate) in Speech and Language Sciences.
