The Westlake Girls Premier Badminton team won the Silver medal for runners up at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Badminton Championships held in early September. In the final, Westlake played a very strong Macleans College team and the scores were locked up at 3 – 3 at the end of the tournament but Macleans College won the title and Gold medal on a count-back by 8 – 7. The Westlake team members are Alyssa Tagle (Year 13), Cynthia Liu (Year 12), Catelyn Rozario (Year 12), Rose Huang (Year 11) and Tamara Otene (Year 11).
