Twelve medals at Auckland Athletics Championships

The Auckland Secondary Schools Athletics Championships were held at Mt Smart stadium in mid-March. A total of 18 Westlake students qualified from the North Harbour Secondary Schools Athletic Championships to attend the Auckland Secondary Schools Championships. From the 18 students, there were 12 medals won which is a great achievement. Results from the Westlake students are: Kalei Morgan-Tafea (Year 9) = Silver medal in the Junior 1500m and Bronze medal in the Junior 800m, Charlotte Print (Year 12) = Gold medal in the Intermediate Triple Jump, Jessica Lane (Year 13) =  Silver medal in the Senior 800m, Kaila Ru-Tearoiti (Year 13) = Silver medal in the Senior High Jump and Bronze medal in the Senior Discus, Sofia Lome (Year 12) = Silver medal in the Senior Long Jump and Silver medal in the Senior 100m, Kaia Tupu-South  (Year 12) =  Gold medal in the Senior Shot Put and Gold medal in the Senior Discus. Two of our Relay teams also won medals. The Junior 4 x 100m Relay won a Silver medal (Jessie Brothers, Kalei Morgan-Tafea, Pallas Baker and Myara Flint), and the Senior 4 x 100m Relay  won a Bronze medal (Sofia Lome, Jessica Lane, Kiera Fisher and Amayah Wingfield).
