Two medal in the inaugural “Swim the Bridge” event

A new event took place in early April called “Swim the Bridge”. It is open to the general public and participants elect to swim across the Waitemata Harbour under the Auckland Harbour Bridge either as a single crossing (1km) or double crossing (2km). Over 1500 people of all ages took part and two Westlake students did extremely well. Michaela Pocock (Year 9) won the Silver medal in the Girls Under-14 single crossing. Lena Hamblyn-Ough (Year 9) won a Bronze medal in the Girls Under-15 double Crossing and also won a Gold medal in the same event for the non-wetsuit division.
