The Westlake Girls 1st XI Hockey team won the Gold Medal at the Marie Fry Secondary Schools Hockey Tournament held at Lloyd Elsmore Park during the Secondary Schools Tournament week in early September. They played Villa Maria College from Christchurch in the final. At the end of regular time, the scores were tied at 1-1 and the game went into Strokes (penalty shots) which the Westlake team won by 2-1.
