Novel Coronavirus

After consultation and advice, Westlake Girls High School is advising any student or staff member who may be at risk of exposure to Novel Coronavirus because they have recently been to China or in close contact with someone confirmed with the virus, to delay the start of their school year until they been in New Zealand 14 days. Once they have been in the country 14 days, and there is no sign of illness, they are able to start school.

We appreciate the impact this may have on your home and family, and hope the precautionary measures we have put in place provide some reassurance.

If you have concerns and wish to discuss them, please contact your daughter’s House Dean. Contact information is available on our website: https://www.westlakegirls.school.nz/house-contacts/

The Ministry of Education is working closely with the Ministry of Health to suggest measures that schools can put in place to ensure the risk of this virus is minimised. Ministry of Health updates can be found on their website: https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov

We will keep you up-to-date as more information becomes available.
