Starting Information 2024
Tuesday 30 January: Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 only. This is a half day beginning at:
- 9 a.m. for students who are new to Westlake Girls in 2024. Meet in the courtyard by the Event Centre. You will be welcomed into the Events Centre, introduced to key staff and then taken to your 2024 Form Class.
- 9.30 a.m. for returning students. Please go directly to your 2023 Form Class.
All students will be released at approximately 11.30am. School buses have not been requested to operate this day. Year 13 student leaders will need to remain at school until 3pm.
Wednesday 31 January: Year 9 students, Year 13 leaders, and all new students of other year levels.
This is a full day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Year 9 students and an orientation day for Year 9s only. It is not an early start like other Wednesdays. Year 9 students should be onsite for 9am. Once in the gates, Year 13 Prefects will direct Year 9 students to the Events Centre.
During the assembly in the Event Centre, students will be welcomed, divided into Form Classes, and will then go to their classroom with their Form Teacher and classmates. There they will receive their school diary, timetable, be guided to connect their device to the school system, be given their student email address (which is a key way we contact our students) and be provided with the school rules and regulations. There will also be an opportunity for students to get to know each other in their class, and they will be taken on a guided tour for bathrooms, lockers, canteen, library, Office, Health Centre, places to eat lunch, and classroom blocks. They will also be shown how to use the library, including topping up printing cards.
There will be then be a Pōwhiri at 10 am, for all new students (including new Year 10-13’s).
New students in Years 10-13 are only required to be at school by 9.45 a.m. They may go home after the Pōwhiri.
Thursday 1 February: This is the first day of classes for all students, beginning at 8.50 a.m. with Form Time. It is a Day 4 on your timetable.
