2020 Vietnam Trip Information Evening

When: Tuesday 28 May, 6.30 - 7.45pm

Where: Staff Room, Gernhoefer Admin Centre

What: In 2020, WGHS staff will take a group of students to Vietnam for two weeks over the July holidays. We'd love you to come along to our information evening if your daughter is interested in this exciting opportunity. The trip is open to students who will be seniors in 2020.

Korean Night

When: Friday 31 May, 7pm

Where: Auditorium, Westlake Boys High School, 30 Forrest Hill Road

What: The Westlake Korean Night is an annual event that aims to promote and share in essence what Korean culture is about to both the Westlake and wider community by exhibiting a diverse range of traditional and modern performances. Over the past 8 years, Westlake Korean Night has been extremely successful with an average of 1500 audience members every year. This year the Westlake Korean Night will be held on Friday 31 May at 7pm at the Westlake Boys’ Auditorium.

Tickets are $5-6 and available here. Be sure to purchase yours before the event as we cannot guarantee door sales.

Theatresports Match vs WBHS

What: Theatresports – an evening of comical hilarity

Our new Theatresports teams from the Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools cut their teeth on one another and flex their muscles in preparation for competition nights in a few weeks’ time. If you enjoy Whose Line is it Anyway, our teams should amuse you!

An evening of Shakespeare, adapted for Year 11 Drama

The Duchess of Malfi, abridged and adapted for Year 13 Drama

When: Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 June

What: The Duchess of Malfi by John Webster, abridged and adapted for Year 13 Drama

The young Duchess of Malfi faces the cruel and irrational anger of her domineering brothers, Ferdinand and the Cardinal, when she dares to marry for love.  Forced to hide her relationship with her husband (her steward Antonio), the Duchess’ days are numbered when she becomes pregnant and court spy, Bosola, discovers the truth.  The tragedy of the Duchess and her family is a warning to those who seek to control and possess the female body, and one which still holds relevance today. This production is highly stylised, with minimal set and costume and with almost all the cast taking turns at playing the Duchess.

Mid-Winter Concert

Where: Holy Trinity Cathedral, Cnr St Stephs Ave and Parnell Road

What: The combined Westlake schools invite you to an extraordinary mid-winter event featuring our top choirs and orchestras. With special guest alumna Natasha Wilson, currently studying at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, this evening will be a celebration of Westlake's award-winning music ensembles. Featuring a range of musical styles, this one-night-only event isn't to be missed.
